About Building Knowledge | Meet our Team
ABOUT BUILDING KNOWLEDGE
Building Knowledge was incorporated in Ontario on December 1, 1986, with Gord and Linda Cooke as Principals, and acted primarily as a sales agency in the HVAC industry specializing in ventilation products. Our primary line was, and continues to be vanEE Heat Recovery Ventilators. Gord had been the Plant Manager for the manufacturer in Saskatoon before moving back to Ontario and setting up the agency to become their representative.
Over the next ten years the product line grew to include fans, flex, air cleaners, air testing equipment, and commercial HRV's. Additional sales reps were hired to cover the province, as well as inside sales administration. As new opportunities arose in the building industry marketplace, Building Knowledge diversified and became R-2000 evaluators and proponents of energy efficiency products and building practices.
As an added service to our sales customers, Gord began to do contractor and builder training covering topics such as indoor air quality, advanced mechanicals, building science and sales and marketing. This value-added service evolved over the next 10 years into a full-time training and consulting division servicing the building industry in Canada and the USA.
Our Builder Services Division grew from our R-2000 roots as we expanded into new leading-edge building programs such as EnerGuide for New Homes, ENERGY STAR, LEED and Building Canada. In March 2009, this builder Services and Consulting division was separated from Air Solutions and incorporated as Building Knowledge Canada Inc., to better reflect the focus of both companies. Strat Padazis became a full partner and VP Sales for
Building Knowledge in May 2009.
Both companies continue to share resources and office space allowing us to continue to grow and serve the building industry from one location.

Provides technical and sales and marketing training to the housing market and related building industries to lessen the impact of building on the environment.
 Air Solutions Inc.
Provides technical representation of innovative energy efficient products to the building industry.
Provides products for the improvement of indoor air quality.

Gord Cooke - President
Good Cooke is a professional engineer, trainer, author and industry consultant who has spent over 20 years helping builders and HVAC contractors implement innovative technologies into high performance homes. He is an effective and passionate educator and advocate for better building practices, improved indoor air quality and energy efficiency. |

Rob Johnston - Builder Liaison / Energy Evaluator
Rob has been an intricate part of our team for the past 6 years and is currently focusing on his role of assisting builders through the creation and implementation of their chosen energy program. Whether it is Energy Star, LEED, R2000 or Greenhouse, Rob is able to create the most cost effective builder option plans. His dedication and knowledge is invaluable to both our company and the builders we service. |

Angela Bustamante C.E.T - Energy Evaluator / Administrator, Building Services
Angela, our Building Services Administrator holds both an Environmental Engineering Diploma and a Construction Engineer Technologist Degree. Her experience and education is both multi-faceted and extensive. Currently she is actively involved with administering our Energy Star mentoring program, ventilation design, air testing, energy software simulations and EcoEnergy audits.

Josh Zubrickas - Energy Evaluator
As our newest certified Energy Star Evaluator, Josh has quickly become an intricate part of our team. Currently, he is certified to perform Energy Star air testing, EcoEnergy audits, air tightness for LEED and high velocity verifications.

Huso Ashimi - Energy Evaluator
After many years of assisting immigrant families with energy awareness, Huso joined our team 2 years ago. Certified as both an Energy Star and EcoEnergy Evaluator, Huso is responsible for evaluating a variety of housing types throughout Central & Southern Ontario.

Tammy Hirlehey - Administrative Assistant, Building Services
As the newest member of our team, Tammy brings with her years of administrative and customer service experience. Tammy provides support in a variety of areas to our other team members and acts as a liaison for our homebuilders. Her primary responsibility is the maintenance of current and future enrolments in the Energy Star program.
